What does it mean to connect to your womb, anyway?

I mean, is that a practical thing or totally intangible?

It's a fair question, and one I would have asked many years ago when I was completely and utterly disconnected from the part of my body "where the sun don't shine."

It took me many years to find my way there.

A couple days ago I was in a circle of colleagues and one of them directed us to "journey to our wombspace" but gave us no guided visualization or any cues at all on how to do that.

I was able to go there, but only because I have cultivated so much connection over the years.

I was thinking that 15+ years ago, I would have had no clue how to do that and would have absolutely just fallen asleep during that "journey."

So... how does one cultivate relationship to their wombspace?

Well there are many ways.

Cycle tracking, guided visualizations, sexual healing, trauma work, pelvic bodywork, birth work, and also.... intentional practices like vaginal steaming.

Which is what this week's episode is all about.

Jessica Birnbaum Pratt found her way from unexplained abnormal vaginal bleeding to a deep relationship with her womb through the practice of vaginal (or yoni) steaming.

The first time she awkwardly explored the practice of steaming her vulva and pelvic floor with an herbal blend, she felt a sense of "remembrance."

And it's true, this practice IS ancient. And also can be translated into a modern context.

It's got physiologic therapeutic benefits (from enhancing circulation to softening tissues) but beyond that, it's also got some deep emotional and spiritual layers too.

For Jessica, it was the elemental and spiritual qualities that really supported her sense of relationship and connection with her wombspace.

That connection developed from total mystery to deeply honoring her wombspace to her designing her very own vaginal steaming seat that she now sells worldwide!

Listen to learn:

  • what vaginal steaming is + some of the history of the practice
  • some DIY styles for yoni steaming at home
  • how Jessica went from being told she might be going through "early menopause" to having children!
  • what Jessica thinks the cause of her abnormal vaginal bleeding was
  • why vaginal steaming is more than just physical healing
  • about the steam seat she designed
